Fat analyser - content measurement in meat - From Smiths Heimann PID.

X ray systems to measure the fat content of meat at process speeds. The system primarily calculates Chemical Lean of the meat as it passes through. The fat analysis, CL value is accurate within 1%. The Eagle FA will also provide weight recording accurate to +/- 1%.

The system can also automatically detect and reject foreign body contaminants such as; metals, glass, stone, bone, PVC, Teflon, Stainless Steel (even in aluminium foil products). Smiths Heimann PID have developed SimulTask™ software providing each contaminant type to be independently analysed. All image analysis routines are run simultaneously, thus optimising detection capability and minimising false rejects.

DEXA Technology - Dual energy X ray

Data from both the high energy and low energy detectors is inputted to an

algorithm that determines the chemical lean (CL) content of boneless meat

packed in cardboard boxes. This chemical lean calculation occurs at the

same time as other algorithms are analyzing the image for contaminants.

The attenuation of the high and low energy x-rays differ as they pass

through the meat box according to the fat content of the meat.
